This is very overdue, but playing catch up is seeming to be part of daily life at the moment!
Last month, the National Live Music Awards named me as their inaugural recipient of the Live Music Journalist of the year for 2020. It was the first time a category acknowledging the achievements and work of music writers has been included in the awards, and I was nominated alongside some impressive writers; all of who have created some great content over the last year.
I definitely was not expecting to win, I was just happy there was a category where our work could finally be acknowledged. I’m really glad that I’ve been able to keep afloat during the weirdness of this year and get back to some kind of normal with work and find different ways to support my local community.
I like to write to share perspective, but also to hopefully strike up conversation as well. It’s at the centre of a new project I’ve been working on throughout this year, and I can’t wait to share more on it soon. So this award was really nice to receive but moreover, it’s exciting me because I know myself and I know a LOT of other creatives are working on projects that are gonna kick ass once we’re in the New Year and back on deck.
Many thanks to the NLMAs again!
